Frequently Asked Questions

Have questions? Get in touch or look at the FAQ section.

  • Q. What issues can counselling help with?

    A. Counselling provides support for a wide range of concerns. Many people seek help for issues such as anxiety, depression, stress, low self-esteem, relationship difficulties, grief, trauma, or major life changes. It can also be a space for personal growth, self-discovery, and learning healthier coping strategies. Even if you’re not sure how to define what you’re experiencing, counselling can offer a safe, supportive environment to explore your feelings and move towards positive change.

  • Q. How do I know if I need counselling?

    A. You don’t need to be in crisis to benefit from counselling. If you feel overwhelmed, emotionally drained, or find it hard to manage daily responsibilities, relationships, or work, it may be a sign that extra support could help. Some people seek counselling when they feel stuck in unhelpful patterns, while others come simply to gain clarity and strengthen their mental well-being. Choosing counselling is a proactive step toward caring for yourself, and it’s perfectly okay to reach out even if you’re unsure—you don’t have to figure it out alone.

  • Q. What can I expect in my first session?

    A. Your first session is about getting to know each other. We’ll talk about what brings you to counselling, your goals, and what you hope to achieve. I’ll explain how the process works, answer any questions you may have, and together we’ll decide on the best approach for your needs. The session is not about judgment or pressure—it’s a confidential, supportive space where you can begin to share your story at your own pace.

  • Q. Is everything I share kept confidential?

    A. Confidentiality is at the heart of counselling. Everything you share in session stays between us, creating a safe space for you to talk openly. There are a few rare exceptions where I’m legally or ethically required to break confidentiality, such as if there is a risk of harm to yourself or others, or if required by law. These situations will be explained clearly before we begin, so you’ll always know what to expect.
