“Services” refers to counselling, consultation, supervision, and resources provided by Cognizance Counselling.

This website provides information about counselling services, resources, and related materials.

3. Counselling Services

Services are provided by registered professionals in accordance with BCACC Code of Ethics.

Services are available to residents of British Columbia and Canada, unless otherwise specified.

Counselling does not replace medical or psychiatric treatment. For emergencies, call 911 or go to your nearest emergency department.

4. No Guarantee of Outcomes

Counselling is a collaborative process; individual results cannot be guaranteed.

Progress depends on your participation, readiness, and external factors beyond the counsellor’s control.

5. Privacy and Confidentiality

All personal information is handled according to professional standards and applicable privacy laws (e.g., Personal Information Protection Act, BC).

Exceptions include risk of harm to self/others, child abuse, or as required by law.

6. Payment Policy

Payment: Payment is due at the time of service unless otherwise arranged.

Accepted Payment Methods: We accept payments via credit card. A credit card is required to be on file in order to book an appointment.

Insurance Billing: We currently offer direct billing to ICBC, FNHA, CVAP, IFHP, and Autism Funding. If covered by other insurers, we can provide a receipt for submission to your insurance provider.

Session Fees: The standard session fee applies unless otherwise specified or covered by your insurance provider.

7. Cancellation Policy

48-Hour Notice: Clients are required to provide at least 48 hours’ notice for rescheduling or cancellations. Failure to do so will result in a charge of the full session fee.

No-Show Policy: If you miss your scheduled appointment without prior notice, the full session fee will be charged.

Emergency Situations: We understand that emergencies can occur. Please contact us as soon as possible if you are unable to attend due to unforeseen circumstances. We will do our best to accommodate you.

8. Intellectual Property

All website content (text, graphics, logos, resources) is the property of Cognizance Counselling unless otherwise noted.

Trademarks and logos are protected; unauthorized use is prohibited.

You may not reproduce or distribute content for commercial purposes without written consent.

9. User-Generated Content (If applicable)

If you submit content via the website (forms, comments, testimonials), you are responsible for ensuring it does not violate others’ rights.
